Glad that they had parking for guests in a gate (though a bit of a tight squeeze) and the room on the first floor was very nice for our one night stay. The location was only two blocks from the shore for a nice walk and near several attractions.

Lovely spacious room, comfy bed, and great rainfall shower. It had everything we needed for our short stay. The road was quiet and there's a CO op within walking distance with a bakery which was great for breakfast. I would stay here again if in the area.

An important harbour for centuries, Portsmouth counts with one of the busiest ferry piers in the United Kingdom, has the oldest dry dock still in use in the world. Its Historic Dockyard is home to famous British ships like Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior.
In the picturesque Old Town you’ll find typical English pubs, coloured houses, and small independent shops. It also has a Fish Market provided by the city’s small fishing fleet. In Old Portsmouth is possible to find smaller hotels, B&B’s and guest houses, some of them not far from the ferry harbour.
The Gunwharf Quays are a modernly renovated shopping area, home to the Spinnaker Tower, while the centre has an ever-growing number of shops. Don’t miss Commercial Road and the Cascades Shopping Centre. Hotels in Portsmouth’s city centre allow you to be close to everything what the city has to offer.
For relaxing moments, Portsdown Hill allows panoramic views over the city and the Isle of Wight. During summer, its sandy beaches are a must.

We only stayed in the dock land area so did not see anything else of Portsmouth, but could have spent much more time here anyway! The historic dockyard with Warrior, Victory, Mary Rose and so much more is a simply superb experience. The Gunwharf Quays is now a shopping and restaurant haven. We ate at the Cozy Club which had excellent food and views across the harbor. We also walked around to the historic Round Tower/Square Tower area which has been restored. The very, very best place to go is the Still and West pub & restaurant on the point there. Amazing food, atmosphere, and ships constantly passing the windows. I would live in this pub! Everything we went to was walking distance, and the train and bus station was opposite our hotel should we have wanted to travel further afield.

My reason for going to Portsmouth was then Dockyard and Naval Museums, easily taking all of my few days exploring. HMS Warrior, HMS Victory, the Submarine visit, the many museums, the bay trip, the only downside was the long lines of people for all these magnificent examples of Britain's former naval power and the opportunity to clamber aboard and around. The whole dockyard area just reeks of history packed into every square foot both on-shore and in the bay.
A fabulous local bus network, superb shopping and many other museums. Along with it's share of pubs and restaurants for all pockets it was difficult to fit as much in as I did in just four days.
The only thing that I would want to avoid the next time is the rain.
The long line of to enter the docks, 45 minutes or an hour or more without any cover does mean you can get washed out if you haven't wrapped up warm and dry.

This city, historical home of Britain's Naval Base houses...
This city, historical home of Britain's Naval Base houses treasures you can't see anywhere else. HMS Victory, the ship Admiral Nelson died in battle is a sight to behold. Excellent audio helps with the tour. The HMS Mary Rose, the 14th century ship on display in an interpretive centre is fascinating. HMS Warrior, the biggest iron hulled warship in the world and other ships available for touring. Boat tours of the harbour or a ferry via the famous hovercraft to Isle of Wight. The D-Day Interpretive Centre and the last remaining craft that landed on the beaches of Normandy there to walk through. A coastal walk that is breathtaking. So, so much to discover and enjoy. We have to go back.

If you like history Portsmouth is great.
If you like history Portsmouth is great. We did not know about the hovercraft that went to the Isle of Wright which I wish we could of done. Spent only about 3/4 of a day at the Naval museum. Could easily spent 2 days.
Stayed here a couple of times before and Like to stay here while in Portsmouth Lovely old hotel and nicely renovated The dining room is unusually attractive displaying some of the history of the hotels grandeur Great position right opposite the Spinaker and the bus and railway station Additional benefit is the nearby private parking area for hotel residents Great food both at night and an exceptional breakfast Would definitely stay again next time we are in Portsmouth
Free parking to rear of the hotel, Lift to all floors, Room was fitted out well with TV and good sized shower room, The breakfast was excellant served with fried bread which is very rare at many establishments, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, a nice bar that sold bottled beers and spirits. This hotel is right opposite the Harbour Train station and opposite the bus terminus.
The Hotel is only a 2-3 minute walk to Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnacker Tower.
Location in Old Portsmouth was superb - just a short walk to the Harbour entrance or to Gunwharf Quays.
Accommodation provides a free parking permit for the zone which is brilliant, and the roads are fairly quiet in this part of Portsmouth
Convenient Co-Op shop is very close by for drinks and snacks to take to your room
Great view of Spinnaker Tower from our room on 2nd floor
Staff very helpful in sorting out our couple of issues on arrival
Located literally just outside the Historic Dockyard and a 5-8 minute walk to the Harbour train station, Gosport ferry, the catamaran ferry and Gunwharf Quays. Staff were friendly and helpful and a decent breakfast selection in the morning. Hotel was also kept clean throughout. The swimming pool and jacuzzi was also a nice touch, after a day of traveling and exploring the dockyard.
It was the closest hotel to where our son is now living in Portsmouth (we live in Northamptonshire). The 20%off all food made the entire visit much cheaper than usual. We requested a bath and we had one. The food was delightful and plentiful. Staff were very attentive to all our questions/ needs. Offer of more towels was nice even though we hadn’t used all of our original ones yet.
The Location is fantastic for the attractions in Portsmouth. It is a well equipped, clean modern property and the hosts are nice. Parking is available which saves you quite a bit at the location. This is the second time that I have stayed here and I have not been disappointed by anything. The beds are comfortable and the area quiet. Good price too for the area and facilities.
l was disappointed that one of them common things and cheaper to buy and can be found in any guest house or hotel was not a there in the kitchen. ( Tea, sugar and coffee wasn't). tThe shower drain was blocked and l was standing in a pool of water whiles taken my shower.
The house was absolutely beautiful as well as historical. We loved the space, the comfort, and the proximity to the seafront and Historic Dockyard. Steve was so helpful, accommodating our late arrival and providing us with resources on the history of Portsmouth.
The breakfast was very nice, and the location is perfect for a trip to Gunwharf Quays, and Portsmouth's many attractions, there was parking right next to the hotel, and the views from our room of Spinnaker Tower and one of the old ships in docks was great.
Excellent location for all amenities in Gunwharf Quays and the Naval base museums. Very friendly staff and a good breakfast. Parking was cheap through the hotel. First night free then £2 for the following 24 hours. We would definitely stay here again.
Loved this apartment, really clean and nicely decorated. So much bigger than a hotel room with lots of space for our family. Great location and although it was central Portsmouth on a Saturday, it was very quiet at night. Would definitely stay again.
Location could not have been better - right across the road from Portsmouth Harbour railway station. View from my window was HMS Warrior. Nice big bathroom and shower. Great included breakfast at the neighbouring Keppels Head hotel.
We really like this Hotel because it's close to everything we need such as the sea and restaurants.
The hotel is Clean, staff friendly and welcoming.
The breakfast is good
The Hotel is close to the seafront and thus in walking distance to both Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour.
Breakfast was very good and almost everything available.
